Edward

Hearing that it’s been a long time since Ava had a boyfriend pleases me more than it should. I know it shouldn’t matter and yet it does. In a way, it makes it easier to consider the proposal I want to make to her. It also sends my sex-starved brain off in other directions where I know it shouldn’t go.

How long since she’s been kissed? Touched? Fucked?

I reach for the drinks that the waiter brought and hold one out to Ava.

‘Here.’

‘What is it?’ she asks as she accepts the glass.

‘It’s a Don Juancho. It has rum, banana peel syrup, sherry, bitters and tonka beans.’

‘I don’t even know what some of those are,’ she says laughing.

‘Try it.’ I raise my glass to her and watch as she takes a sip. Her eyes widen and delight broadens her smile.

‘Yum! That’s so good.’

‘I know, right?’

We sip our drinks and gaze at the view, and I relax into my chair. I like this bar, have been here several times, but never alone with a woman. Perhaps I’ve gone a bit overboard for Ava but I find that I want to impress her. I want her to have fun. I want to introduce her to the things she’s never experienced because she deserves to enjoy herself. Perhaps it’s the alpha businessman in me showing off as well, wanting to impress this beautiful young woman because every time she smiles, I feel like I’m winning. Perhaps it’s something about her innocence that makes me want to show her things, a bit like taking her virginity and bringing her the joy of knowledge and experience.

When our glasses are empty, I point to the tray. There are more cocktails on there because I wanted Ava to try a variety.

‘Go on then,’ she says. Her cheeks are rosy and her eyes shining but I can see that she’s relaxing so it’s all good.

‘Let’s have this one next.’ I hand her a glass. ‘It’s an Amazonia.’

I watch as she tastes it, licking her lips. ‘Mmm. Kind of bitter-sweet.’

‘It’s got gin, mezcal and fortified wine.’

She giggles and I swear my cock stirs at the sound.

Two cocktails later, I can feel the gentle buzz of alcohol in my veins. We’ve been talking about my business because Ava asked what I do, but I suspect that she doesn’t think it’s that interesting. I mean, it’s construction and not everyone cares about meeting with architects and councils, about creating energy efficient buildings, negotiating deals, land acquisition and all that comes with it. I tried to keep it simple but I know that sometimes I can get carried away and bore my audience. It’s the construction geek in me.

‘Edward,’ she says, when I place my glass on the table.

‘Yes?’

‘I think I’m a bit tipsy. I was trying to focus on what you were saying but my head’s a bit fuzzy.’ She bites her bottom lip in a way that makes me instantly hard then takes my hand, which does nothing to ease my arousal. ‘Sorry.
